UFAA Surpasses 20,000 Life Members

The UF Alumni Association has undergone many changes since its founding in 1906, but its mission of keeping Gators connected to each other and the University of Florida has remained constant.

On Monday, May 9, The Gator Nation® achieved an important milestone: surpassing 20,000 Life Members in the UF Alumni Association. The dedication of these members and their perennial support of the UFAA's mission ensures that the Alumni Association will help new generations of Gators develop connections, make an impact and demonstrate their pride.

A New Way to Support the University of Florida

As the alumni base it served grew, the Alumni Association did the same, creating additional programs and services. In 1991, the Alumni Association Board of Directors approved a new membership program with options for annual and Life Membership. All new members who joined in 1992, the first year the program was unveiled, were designated as charter members. In a show of support, UF president John Lombardi and his wife Cathryn became the association's first Joint Life Members.

In its first year of availability, nearly 600 Gators chose to support the University of Florida through Life Membership in the Alumni Association.

Life Membership Today

Today, UFAA Life Members are considered leaders among their Gator peers. They come from all walks of life but share a unique affinity for the University of Florida and dedication to furthering the Gator Good.

As part of their efforts to strengthen UF, some of the UFAA's most dedicated Life Members chose to make additional gifts to the Life Member endowment and become Sustaining Life Members. Thank you to these elite supporters for going above and beyond to ensure a bright future for UF and her Alumni Association!

In addition to the critical support they provide the University of Florida, Life Members also receive a number of exclusive benefits as our way of saying thank you. Not a Life Member yet? Join today!
