Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams has been on the frontline of some of the most destructive tropical hurricanes in recent U.S. history. She distinguished herself during the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons, covering Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, Katrina, Wilma and Rita — all within 15 months.

Today, Abrams continues to cover significant storms firsthand. She co-hosts “AMHQ” on The Weather Channel, a morning program focusing on weather conditions, news and business information from around the country. Abrams also hosts the breakthrough series “Weather Proof,” which guides viewers through a collection of elaborate tests that fabricate severe weather scenarios to demonstrate how weather impacts real-life situations and offers lifesaving tips. Previously, Abrams was a morning meteorologist at WTXL-TV in Tallahassee.

Abrams graduated from the University of Florida with honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorology Society. Abrams also holds the AMS seal of approval and was president of the North Florida chapter of the AMS from 2002 to 2003.
