1. What actions have Cicerones taken in response to the events of 2020?
Florida Cicerones has taken a stand against the injustices that face the Black community and have taken this opportunity to recommit ourselves to diversity. Through collaboration with the UF Multicultural and Diversity Affairs (MCDA), our Diversity and Inclusion committee actively leads workshops and serves as a resource to our entire membership.
In response to COVID-19, we have transitioned our organization to a fully virtual platform. We lifted event credit obligations and have maintained opportunities for members to come together through virtual events. We made an emphasis that members could be active without being located in Gainesville for the Fall 2020 semester. We are following updates from the University for Spring 2021.
2. What is the time commitment like?
Each member is required to complete 20 credits per semester, which translates to 20 hours of work, in addition to weekly general body meetings (GBMs). A new member is required to attend a one-hour training per week in addition to the traditional requirements.
