When:  May 18, 2019 from 09:30 to 12:00 (ET)
Associated with  New England Gator Club®

Location

Greater Boston Food Bank
70 South Bay Avenue
Boston, MA 02118
We will be sorting food during our volunteer shirt at the Greater Boston Food Bank. This shift involves sorting through donated product by type while checking for quality. When food enters the warehouse, it is inspected, organized, and prepared for distribution. Volunteers work in our warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and repacking donated food and grocery products.

Upon arrival, we will receive an orientation to the Greater Boston Food Bank and its services. We also get specific training for our project and review food safety guidelines. At the end of the shift, we will gather everyone together to discuss impact, answer questions, and take a group photo.

During the project, volunteers may be asked to load boxes onto a conveyer belt, inspect donated goods, label bulk orders or package boxes of food in an assembly line. While a few of these tasks require the ability to lift a 30-pound box, most tasks require volunteers stand for the duration of the activity.

Please remember to wear closed-toe shoes for your shift (no sandals or flip flops).

The minimum age to volunteer in our warehouse is 16 but any volunteer under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

FREE parking is available on site. If you need to carpool, there will be an opportunity to sign up for that.
