2018-19 New Orleans Gator Club

Greetings to all fellow Gators. We have started our year already with 2 events. The first was a night with the NewOrleans Baby Cakes. We raised some money towards our scholarship fund and also had the second most club members in attendance. Our 2nd event was a meet and greet with our scholarship award winner. Again we had a good turn out and sent our winner off with a Gator Club gift bag. Welcome to the Gatorhood is set for August 24th from 6-8 pm. I'm not going to discuss the play of the game, or the outcome of the game. Rather, I want to discuss the location. Instead of going to Tubby's, we went to PS Tavern on Bay Street. The owner, Scot Minshall, had worked at the sports bar that hosts the Rocky Mountain Gator Club in Denver. Unlike other locations, who have seemingly just tolerated us, he is excited about his sports bar being the "Gator place" in Savannah. Indeed, he had a small banner hanging that stated, "We support Gator Football". We were in the back of the sports bar, with tables, TV, and audio set to our game. The first official games were this past weekend but all of Gator Nation is CHOMPING at the bit for Saturday afternoon when the 2017 Gator football season starts . Pledge Per Point Monies Due

Thank you to all of our members who have pledged money to be donated to support UF Florida Opportunity Scholarship in our "Pledge per Point" program. Your pledge for every point the Gator football team scored this season helps the Portland Gator Club fund scholarships for first generation college students. Music City Gator Club President Leslie Ballard and President-Elect Carolyn DeWitt attended the annual "Florida Forward" University of Florida Alumni Association conference in Gainesville, September 10-12. The highlight of the weekend was that our club received a coveted Clubbie Award for Best Out-Of-State Event for our "Music City is Gator Country" party the night before the Vanderbilt/Florida game last fall. The event was held at Tequila Cowboy on Broadway and drew well over 1,000 visitors and raised money for our scholarship fund. Country Music Marathon a Success
