Don Songer Memorial Adopt a Highway

 Palmetto Pride: Adopt-A-Highway

The Columbia Gator Club meets quarterly to pick up trash along a 1.5-mile stretch of highway on Lake Murray Boulevard near the dam in Irmo.  Adopt-a-Highway is a great way to keep the Midlands beautiful and give back to your community.  Additional hands are always needed.  Meet at the parking lot by Hill's Transmission at 10:00 am.  Disposable gloves, pickers, safety vests, and trashbags will be provided.  Cleanups last approximately 1 hour depending on attendance.

The Columbia Gator Club has participated in this project for many years.  For 10 or more of those years, long-time club member and two time president Don Songer coordinated this project.  Don sadly passed away in 2015, and the club is honoring his memory with the renaming of the project to "Don Songer Memorial Adopt-a-Highway".  His presence in the club is greatly missed.
