Daniel F Martell

Danny Martell, BA '99, serves as VP of Central Region and Engagement Campaigns at NextEra Energy, which is the parent company of Florida Power and Light. He previously held the role of VP of State Legislative Affairs for Florida Power and Light, Florida's largest investor owned utility based in Juno Beach, Florida.  Prior to FPL, he served as the President and CEO of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, which is a nonprofit business advocacy organization in Palm Beach County, Florida.  Daniel also served as VP of Real Estate for Florida Crystals Corporation.  He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, and a BA degree from the University of Florida.

Danny has served on multiple statewide and local nonprofit boards, and continues to serve his community.  He holds Board seats on the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, National Hispanic Energy Council, and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, Florida’s affordable housing financier. He is also an Executive Committee Member for Florida Tax Watch and a member of Leadership Florida. He is a native of Jacksonville and currently resides in Jacksonville with his wife, Cheryl, and three children. He served as a presidential appointee on the FY22 UFAA Board of Directors; this will be serving his second first term as an elected director and his term expires on 6/30/2026.
