Stever Malter

Steve J. Malter, BA ’95, MA ’98, PhD ’07, is a Professor of Practice in Management & Entrepreneurship at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. He designs and teaches innovative and experiential coursework in entrepreneurship, communication, start-up consulting, small business consulting, political campaigns as start-ups, and Israeli innovation.

Before teaching full-time, Steve held several leadership roles, including Senior Associate Dean for Experiential Learning, Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, and Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs. He is responsible for the creation of many signature educational experiences for Olin students, including the Women’s Mentor Program, the Alumni Mentor Program, the Israel Summer Business Academy, and the Asia-Pacific Study Abroad Program.

Steve is an entrepreneur and owns Malter Educational and Career Consulting, where he uses his experience in higher education and certifications in coaching and career development to assist students with college applications, internships, and job searches. He also serves as a National Advisory Board member and an Instructional Working Group member for the College Board in designing the new AP Principles of Business class to be offered beginning in Fall 2026.

He is active in the St. Louis community, serving on several committees and as a Board Member for Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, and as a regional board member of the American Jewish Committee. Steve also served as Vice President and President of the Gateway Gators Club and as a board member of the Gotham Gators Club.

Steve has two daughters, Emma, who is a senior in high school, and Sarah, who is a sophomore studying business at Indiana University. He is serving his first term, which will expire 6/30/2028.
