Angela M. Godwin Beoku-Betts graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 2004. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing and began working in Gainesville where she was appointed to the Quality Improvement Team and worked as a nurse preceptor. A few years thereafter she moved to NYC and graduated from Columbia University with her master’s in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Angela then began her work in bariatrics and served as the surgical coordinator for Mt. Sinai Hospital. She grew in this role and in 2014 opened her own bariatric/weight loss clinic focused on primary care and endocrine disorders. Her clinic is located in the Bronx and focuses on the underserved population. Angela also works within the community, speaking on health panels and taking part in neighborhood health fairs.

Continuing her love of academics, in 2007 Angela joined New York University as an adjunct clinical instructor and in 2012 she received the Clinical Instructor Excellence Award. Additionally, she provides NCLEX instruction to Kaplan students and was honored with the Kaplan Above and Beyond National Award in 2017. Angela returned to Columbia University and received the DNP Nursing Scholarship Award and completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2019. Since that time, Dr. Godwin Beoku-Betts has been promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor at Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She was also honored to be a featured Gator Nurse by UF College of Nursing for this year’s Black History Month and 2020 being the Year of the Nurse.
