Determination is part of Emily Cantwell’s DNA. Emily became a Partner with Lathrop GPM LLP in January 2019, following seven years with legacy firm Lathrop Gage LLP. She has served as a co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative Network since 2019, and is on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.  An active mentor, Cantwell regularly assists with on-campus interviews of law school students and training of junior lawyers. 

Emily specializes in the areas of financial services and employment law, assisting a myriad of clients across the country.  In May 2019, following appellate oral argument at her alma mater, Emily received a favorable opinion which ultimately created new law within the state.  Recognizing the excellent work on behalf of her clients, in 2020 St. Louis Small Business Monthly named Cantwell as a top attorney in St. Louis. 

Emily is passionate about women’s rights and equality.  In October 2019, she was interviewed by NPR affiliate St. Louis on the Air, for a segment entitled, “St. Louisans Weigh in on What Makes a Workplace Where Women Thrive.” Emily sits on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis as well as the Greater Missouri Leadership Program.

Cantwell serves as an Executive Board Member of the Clayton, Missouri Chamber of Commerce, and served as the Chamber’s President in 2018.  She also volunteered as an election judge for St. Louis County for the 2020 Presidential election.

Emily currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband, three children and dog, Dash.
