Tim Hoeft is the Managing Principal and sole owner of Straughn Trout Architects, LLC (STA), a multi-disciplinary architectural design firm in Lakeland, Florida. Tim started his career with STA in 1999, remained employed with the firm throughout college, and transitioned to full-time upon completion of his graduate professional degree program. Tim’s time at the University of Florida was transformative. While enrolled, he participated in the UF:SoA study abroad programs in both Vicenza, Italy (Spring ‘04) and Guadalajara, Mexico (Summer ‘05). He served in positions for the School of Architecture and the College of Design, Construction, and Planning, while also participating in college athletics. He is now a licensed architect, interior designer, and LEED Accredited Professional. Tim assumed his current leadership role in 2015, where he guides the award-winning firm to maintain its nearly 65 years of continual practice.

The firm’s notable recognition throughout his tenure includes the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year in 2005, the AIA Tampa Bay (AIATB)’s 2012 Firm of the Year, Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2019 “Fast 50” (#31), and the honor of being named to the UF Alumni Association’s “Gator100” in both 2019 and 2020. Tim has personally received acknowledgment more than once as part of the AIATB’s past “40 under 40” competitions and has authored project case studies published in state and national design and engineering periodicals. Tim was recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2018 “TBBJ 40 under 40”. Most recently, he earned the Tampa Bay AIA’s 2019 “Garcia Award for Design Excellence” for architects forty years of age and under who demonstrate passion, talent, and overall dedication to the field of architecture.
