Dr. Jacob Vencil attended the University of Florida from 2005-2013. During this time he was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (2009) followed by a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine (2013). During his time in Gainesville Dr. Vencil met his wife Jennifer (also a veterinarian) and celebrated four Gators NCAA Championships. You could say it was a pretty great eight years!
Jacob and Jennifer returned to the coast of Northeast Florida where he worked for three years as veterinarian at a large 24-hour animal ER in Palm Coast. It was an opportunity that provided a tremendous amount of experience with complicated medical and surgical cases and state of the art equipment. Dr. Vencil was drawn to practice in St. Augustine by the beautiful beaches and fantastic community. He became the owner of Palencia Pet Clinic in 2016, purchasing the practice from Dr. Peter Veling. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Vencil became the Medical Director/owner of Shoreline Veterinary Hospital in 2018, and in 2021 opened a third practice in Ponte Vedra Beach Fl. The 8 doctors at our three hospitals managed 36,000 client visits last year, making a huge impact on the health of the pets in our community. A new 10,000 Sq Ft facility location will be opening during Spring 2022 for our Palencia location, which will establish a new benchmark for veterinary facilities in North Florida.
Jacob has served on the admissions committee for the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine since 2018, allowing him to help shape the future of the veterinary profession. He is also active in his local, state, and national veterinary associations.
Dr. Vencil and Jennifer have three children: Harper (6), Jack (4) and Hallie (2). Their four-legged family members include Maggie (Labrador mix), Stitch (Boston Terrier mix), Reesie (Tortoiseshell cat), and Pounce (Tuxedo cat). Outside of work he enjoys fishing, tennis, and attending Gators athletic events!
