Onchantho’s humble beginnings ignited her passion for advocacy and public service. As a child of Cambodian refugees, her family endured challenges, ultimately leading to her and her siblings' placement in separate foster homes. With perseverance, she successfully advocated having her siblings reunited. While attending the University of Florida, Onchantho continued her advocacy. She served on the Independent Living Services Advisory Council, which provided recommendations to the Florida Congress to improve independent living transition services. Onchantho received her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. She earned the Victor O. Wehle Award for Trial Advocacy and the Thomas E. Penick Jr. Award for Community Service. As an Associate General Counsel at the University of Central Florida - College of Medicine, she provides legal support and counsel for various healthcare-related activities in education, research, and clinical services. Previously, Onchantho served as VP and CLO for a mental health, substance misuse, and child well-being nonprofit. Onchantho's public service includes President, Orange County Bar Association Foundation; Secretary, National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) – Orlando; Cofounder, Asian American Pacific Islanders Coming Together; Member, Orange County Dr. MLK Jr. Initiative; and Past President, GOAABA. She's locally and nationally recognized as a leader and advocate, including 2021 Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, 2022 NAAAP Inspire, and 2022 Central Florida Asian American Chamber of Commerce Rising Phoenix Leadership award. Her most incredible pride and joy is sharing with her husband the adventure of raising three daughters to become confident, compassionate, and empowered women.
