 Avan Armaghani, MD is a breast medical oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL and treats both women and men with breast cancer. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biological and Medical Sciences at the University of Florida in 2009. She then continued at the University of Florida College of Medicine and received her Doctor of Medicine in 2012. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. She has a strong interest in medical education and mentorship. She is a core faculty member for the University of South Florida (USF) and Moffitt Cancer Center hematology/oncology fellowship program and serves as the fellowship breast rotation leader. 


Dr. Armaghani has served on various committees and participated in leadership initiatives locally, regionally, and nationally. She is an active member of the Hillsborough County Medical Association, ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) and ACP (American College of Physicians). Her project and research interests are focused on medical education and on discovering new ways to utilize digital technology to optimize healthcare delivery and developed the first mobile application for clinical trials at Moffitt Cancer Center. She is also actively involved in community outreach initiatives including involvement in educational programs raising awareness about breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. She volunteers with Girls Inc, a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting girls in STEM. Dr. Armaghani also created the first every photography exhibit at Moffitt titled Portraits of Hope, which highlights the strength, courage and resilience of breast cancer patients.
