Ellington is executive director of the digestive diseases service line at UChicago Medicine, where he oversees strategy and development of 14 clinical programs across the Health System and the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. Prior to this role, Ellington was with Tenet Healthcare, where he held several leadership positions, most recently as national director of strategy and service lines. Earlier positions include regional service line director for orthopedics and sports medicine at Tenet Health’s Coastal Division and Florida Region (17 hospitals), and associate administrator at Florida Medical Center. He also completed an administrative fellowship with Tenet Florida and administrative internships with Lakeland Regional Health and the Florida Department of Health.

Ellington has received numerous leadership awards, competed in national health administration case competitions, was a finalist in ACHE’s Richard J. Stull Graduate Essay Competition in Healthcare Management, and has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine. He earned his bachelor’s in health care management from Florida A&M University, his MHA from the University of Florida and doctor of public health in leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a graduate of the 2015 Tenet Leadership Academy and served as president of the Health Administration Student Association while at UF. Ellington is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives.

He is also a life member of the University of Florida Alumni Association and Florida A&M Marching 100 Band Alumni Association.
